Knoppix 5.0 vs. USB-Festplatten
Es gibt Dinge, die einfach nerven. Heute ist Knoppix 5.0 (Cebit-Edition) dran, das sich nicht einfach “minimalinvasiv” auf eine USB-Festplatte mit kleiner Bootpartition (FAT16) und großer Datenpartition (FAT32) kopieren lässt. Nein, der Ramdisk fehlt der Treiber für FAT — das Ding bootet nicht nach meiner Standardmethode.
Mein Workaround:
- Anlegen einer 4500MB großen Linux-Partition am Anfang der USB-Festplatte. Aktiv gesetzt und mit Extended 2 (ext2, nicht ext3) formatiert, dahinter eine FAT32-Partitition, die den Rest der Platte überspannt.
- Kopieren des gesamten Inhaltes der Knoppix-DVD auf die erste Partition:
rsync -avP /cdrom/ /media/sda1/ - Schreiben des Bootloaders extlinux in das Verzeichnis isolinux der gemounteten Partition:
extlinux /media/sda1/boot/isolinux - Umbenennen der Konfigurationsdatei isolinux.cfg in extlinux.conf und Hinzufügen des Append-Parameters bootusb.
